AGSI Sponsors Team Morash and their 29er Sailing Dinghy

AGSI has a long tradition of supporting local athletes and most recently AGSI is sponsoring two talented young sailors, Riley and Morgan Morash, who will be sailing their 29er sailing dinghy under the Go360 Racing banner.

Team Morash have been training and competing this summer in preparation for the 2014 World Championships in Kingston, Ontario.

The brothers are originally from Chester, Nova Scotia and while growing up they learned to love the sport of sailing. At age 10 and 12 the boys began competing in local regattas and by age 12 and 14 the results of their summer racing qualified them for a berth on the Provincial Sailing Team allowing them to become one of the top youth sailing pairs in Canada. During the past few sailing seasons they have posted impressive results at National and International regattas; 6th at Youth Nationals and 5th at CORK International, won Provincial Championships, as well as winning local regattas.

In the fall of 2012, they switched to the 29er class. Their first Summer in 29er has turned out very well; winning ARK, finishing second in Sail East, coming fourth at Canadian Nationals in Kingston, Ontario, as well as finishing 3rd at the 29er North American Championship in Kingston.

Team Morash have been training this spring in preparation for two major events this summer. They will compete at North American Championships in Kingston, Ontario, July 20 - 24 followed by 2014 World Championships in Kingston, July 26 - August 2.

Their coach, Lisa Ross, is the Provincial Team Coach and 2008 Beijing Olympian.

Summer Racing Update - August 7th, 2014

Team Morash were training diligently heading into the 2014 World Championships in Kingston, Ontario however, hindered by Riley’s shoulder injury they were unable to finish the regatta and did not attain the results they had hoped. Results for the North American Championships fell short of expectations as well.

The Team is staying positive and looking forward to switching to the 49er class next year (Olympic class boat). In the interim Morgan will continue to gain race experience in one of the largest keelboat regattas in North America called Chester Race Week, participating in a 49er FX Training Camp, and hopefully heading to Annapolis, Maryland to sail on a J80 class boat sponsored by AGSI USA.
